According to Samsung Mobile Romania, the Korean consumer electronics giant will be releasing a Gingerbread update for its first-generation Android flagship device Galaxy S. Launched with Android 2.1 Eclair onboard, the Galaxy S took its own sweet time getting an Android 2.2 Froyo update, and now, fortunately just a few short months later, it is getting a Gingerbread update. The Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) will first get an Android v2.2.1 update by March 20th, before getting an Android 2.3 Gingerbread by the end of March.

For those of you wondering if the Samsung Galaxy S will be phased out soon, think again – Samsung is pushing both the Galaxy SL and Galaxy S models, and you can expect prices to drop but availability remain after the  Galaxy S II launches.

Kinect made world record of fastest selling consumer electronics device ever

Kinect, not only as a motion control interface for the Xbox 360,also used as a 3D camera for music videos, maps and 3D printing, to various PC-based control interface and augmented reality applications, which was launch by Microsoft  in November, 2010 made world record of fastest selling consumer electronics device ever by selling 10 million units in a little over four months…Well enough to get itself a Guinness World Record.

Certainly a unique success story, it’s fascinating how  Xbox 360 users make up only a part of the 10 million or so owners of the Kinect. To be very precise however, the metrics used refer to 10 million units sold (shipped to stores), and not 10 million units sold-through (undisclosed). While the numbers are apparently not too far apart, and the Guinness Book of World Records notes that on average, Microsoft has been selling about 133,333 Kinect units per day on average since November last year.
